I’m going to try and sum up Celia and Austin’s Maui elopement but I can already tell you that my words will fail me miserably.
I’m sitting here in the hair salon, still tired, sand still stuck in my shoes and trying to not tear up. But as much as this trip fulfilled me, it isn’t about me. When 2020 caused everyone to forcibly shift plans, Celia + Austin called off their big wedding and left it with me as “we will figure something out”. I think the exhaustion they felt with everything was more than warranted. When they finally said fuck it, let’s do it in Hawaii…the universe just aligned.
You know, the past year really was full of some scary shit. Things are not normal yet, and they may never will be, but one thing this chaos has allowed is less fucks given. Couples are gravitating towards what feels right for their heart. That’s what Hawaii was for Celia and Austin: just right. It rained, we got soaked, Hen got bit by fire ants right before the ceremony but shit, what a GREAT day.
So much love to you both. Thanks for taking me with you, trusting me and letting me be me.
